Makerspace/Engineering, Faculty

Responsibilities for Engineering Teacher:

  • Teach content and skills in engineering courses, utilizing and adapting curriculum
  • Further develop the engineering curriculum through the addition of relevant content, projects and challenges.
  • Understanding that engineering/fabrication is applied problem solving and that project based learning is the best vehicle for this approach.
  • Continue to grow and lead the engineering program to ensure it evolves and stays current.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to create course plans and materials.
  • Develop in each student an understanding of engineering concepts - conceptually and procedurally.
  • Adapt materials and methods to develop assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students and help them to apply what they learn.
  • Monitor students’ development using data.
  • Be open and receptive to feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC machines
  • Design software to interface with the above tools
  • Wood shop tools like chop saws, drills, table saws, screw guns, etc...
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • High expectations for all students
  • Strategic thinker who can execute on multiple priorities

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of makerspace or engineering experience
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
