Requirements:
All students must take a course in Introduction to Technology Explorations or Technology Applications 1. All seniors are required to take Consumer Economics. AP Government students are exempt from the Consumer Economics requirement.
602 - Technology Explorations - ½ credit
This course is designed to enable the student to develop basic computer skills and to provide hands-on experience with software programs and the internet in a windows environment.
606- Technology Applications 1
The course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in utilizing the computer to manipulate and process information and data through software programs and the internet. Students will learn to work with applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management using current business software packages in a windows environment.
612 - Accounting 1
This course is designed to develop a strong foundation in basic accounting theory and procedures. The accounting cycle is presented, and business simulations and microcomputer applications review and reinforce the accounting concepts.
Grade 12 Only
608 - Technology Applications 2
This course is designed for students to continue to learn advanced programs and techniques using the internet while teaching their skills to other students. Independent projects will be assigned. Prerequisites: Technology Applications 1 and teacher approval.
622 - Office Systems Technology
Office Systems Technology is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment, while integrating traditional office functions with the ever increasing demands of the electronic age. Skills and main areas of concentration in this program include word processing concepts and applications, keyboarding development of speed and accuracy in the completion of all types of business communications. Students will develop a practical working experience through the use of current technology.
632 - Business Law
This is a course that will enable the student to learn answers to legal situations including both either recognition and the avoidance of legal problems. Topics include law enforcement and the court system, formulation and breach of contracts, the nature of warranties, ownership of property as well as the risk of loss involved.
642 - Consumer Economics - ½ credit
This course is designed to help students become better consumers. The course is devoted to such concerns as: consumer planning and decision making, financial security, taxes and services, and consumer assistance and protection.
