Since its founding in 1916, West Catholic has been preparing students for the next level of their lives, whether college, workforce, or the armed forces for 100 years.
Today, West Catholic Preparatory High School is a Catholic community of academic excellence in an urban environment who strives to ensure our graduating students are better than when they walked through our doors as freshman. The education offered at West Catholic goes well beyond our academic success, developing characteristics such as work ethic, creativity, critical thinking, handling adversity and many others.
Mr. Paul Colistra is the first lay President in the schools history. Mr. Colistra arrived at West Catholic in 2012 as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement where he oversaw Admissions, Marketing and Fundraising. Following the retirement of Brother Richard Kestler in 2016, Mr. Colistra was announced as President. Prior to his time at West, Mr. Colistra served at LaSalle College High School where he is also a graduate. Mr. Colistra has deep roots in LaSallian education, as his father was a longtime teacher and football coach at LaSalle College High School.
West Catholic is devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and to developing leaders in many disciplines who make a difference globally. The school, which is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has an enrollment of 410 students.
