A Possible New Opportunity to Invest in West

At West Catholic Preparatory High School, we see every day what happens when a student has the opportunity to attend a school that believes in them. Our students are a young people with gifts, goals and a future ahead of them. For many of our families, the cost of a Catholic college-preparatory education can be the difference between saying yes to West Catholic Prep and having to choose another path.
A new opportunity may soon help more families say yes to West.
On October 1, the U.S. Treasury released final guidance for a new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit program that will begin in 2027. Under the program, individuals may be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 for qualifying contributions to scholarship-granting organizations. Married couples filing jointly may be eligible for a credit of up to $3,400.
That means a gift that supports scholarships could have an even greater impact for students and families. Imagine a West Catholic Prep student who has worked hard, has found a community where they belong, and is preparing for college, but whose family is struggling to make tuition work.
A scholarship could help close that gap. It could give a young person access to our college counseling, athletics, arts, service opportunities, leadership programs and the relationships that will shape their future. It could make a Lasallian education possible.

We are proud of the support our West Catholic Prep community has already provided. Last year, our donors helped us raise more than $1.8 million in Pennsylvania tax credit gifts, the most in school history. Those gifts are already making an immediate difference for our students.
Now, we have another potential opportunity to expand access to a West Catholic Prep education.
As Pennsylvania moves through the process of determining its participation in the federal program, we want our West Catholic Prep community to be ready.
