Miguel Bocachica Steps Down as Varsity Basketball Coach of West Catholic Preparatory High School
After a highly impactful tenure leading the West Catholic Prep Boys Basketball Team, Miguel Bocachica is stepping down as Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball team at West Catholic Preparatory High School to pursue a full-time coaching opportunity.
Coach Bocachica took the reins of the program with a clear mission: to elevate West Catholic Prep basketball on and off the court. Under his leadership, the Burrs became known for their tenacity, and resilience. Bocachica guided the team to multiple Catholic League playoff appearances and twice won PIAA State Championships.
“Coach Bocachica poured everything he had into this program - his time, energy, passion, and most of all, his heart,” said West Catholic Prep President Andrew Brady. “I’m proud of all that Coach Boc has been able to achieve. He’s been a mentor to our students, and has built a culture that will last beyond his time here.”
Bocachica expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Burrs “I’m thankful for the opportunity given to me here at West Catholic Prep. To all the players who had the honor of putting on the jersey during my time as coach – I love and appreciate all of you. What we were able to build during my time as head coach was special. I will cherish the relationships forever. Thank you West Catholic Prep and Go Burrs!”
The school will begin a formal search for a new Head Coach immediately, with the goal of continuing the momentum Coach Bocachica helped build.
“We’re grateful for everything Coach Bocachica has done and we’re excited for what’s ahead,” added Athletic Director Jazz Williams ‘97. “We know we have big shoes to fill, but thanks to Coach Bocachica’s leadership, we’re in a great position to keep growing the program the right way.”
