Growing up I wanted to be…a teacher! I knew this at a very early age, and I had many great teachers that inspired me along the way. If that didn’t work out, then I wanted to become a Meteorologist.
Teaching at West Catholic has taught me…how much my role matters. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a changemaker and a positive role model for my students.
When people ask me what I love most about my job, I say…the students, of course! The students make teaching enjoyable. Whether a student cracks a joke, or just stops by my classroom just to say hello; this fills my heart with so much joy. As a teacher, there are many stressors associated with the job, however, my students inspire me to push through difficult days and do my very best.
Something I’m really good at is…connecting with the students and helping them realize how important they are.
The biggest difference between West Catholic and any other school is…as the saying goes…West is the Best!
My favorite subject to study when I was in high school was… general science! I would always create the BEST projects in my class.
The best piece of advice I can give to my students is…Never give up! Even if the odds seem against you and things aren’t going as planned, keep going. Just as the saying goes, “Anything worth having is worth working for”- Andrew Carnegie
The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given…“Keep going, don’t stop!” -My Dad
What I do isn’t just a job because…what I do, and what I say can have a lifelong positive or negative impact on a students future.
Something I don’t leave the house without is…my cell phone, my teacher planner and my laptop (with the charger). One day I forgot my laptop charger at home, and I was out-of-sorts the entire day.
On the weekends I enjoy…not waking up at 4:30 am to go to work, spending time with my husband and children and going to church.
