Magee ’59 Honored before Philadelphia University Game

Herb Magee ’59 was honored on Tuesday, February 21st before his Philadelphia University Rams took on Wilmington University.

This season marks Magee’s 50th year at the helm of Philadelphia University. West Catholic Administrators, Coaches, and current basketball players attended the event. Magee was presented with a framed West Catholic Jersey by Athletic Director Kyle Sheafer who addressed the crowd. Magee in his remarks commented on how he’s received many awards over his long career but the one from West Catholic meant a lot to him. He remarked about how West Catholic was the place where he became a man, and where his love of basketball grew.

Magee is one of the most successful NCAA Coaches in history. He currently holds 1032 wins and is one of only two coaches in NCAA history to reach the 1000 win total. In Magee’s 50 seasons as Head Coach he has amassed as record of 1032-409. Philadelphia University beat Wilmington after the event to take first place in the CACC South.
