Messiah Reames has been announced as the new Girls Basketball Head Coach at West Catholic Preparatory High School.

Reames, a Philadelphia native, comes to West Catholic having served as head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Harriton High School from 2012-2016 earning the most wins  (51) in a four year span in the school’s history.  Following his time at Harriton, Reames served as an Assistant Coach at the Division 1 level at Longwood University and at Hofstra University.

Reames takes over a girls’ basketball program that has had an immense amount of success, winning the 2020 Philadelphia Catholic League Champion, and the 2021 3A PIAA Pennsylvania State Champion.

Mrs. Genevieve Torres, school Principal said “Coach Reames rose to the top of a very competitive and qualified candidate pool.  As we went through the process it became very apparent that Coach Reames experience, passion, and his commitment made him the right choice as the next leader of our girls’ basketball team.  Most importantly, Coach Reames talked about his desire to make an impact for the young people he serves both on and off the court.”

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Reames was a three-time all-conference selection at Cabrini University where he led his team to a 2001-2002 conference championship and to an NCAA DIII Sweet 16 appearance.
